Falling Leaves... Finally

Now that most of the autumn leaves outside have already fallen, I finally have this inside:

I chose to quilt the background of each block separately, in almost matchstick quilting style, but slightly more irregular, varying the direction of the lines.

The leaves have just a few quilting lines to keep them flat, but they are supposed to pop up from the background.

It turned out to be quite a lengthy process, because making parallel lines with the FMQ foot was very tedious and I couldn't do a lot in one sitting.

Anyway I like how it turned out, though it has its problems, it adds some light to the overcast days.

And now I will leave you with the song that was going on in my head as I was working on this quilt:

  2. It is just spectacular! Gorgeous choice of background color, it helps the leaves to pop as does the quilting.

  5. Hi Olena, your quilt is really stunning. I love the FMQ and the way that some of the leaves are only partially shown. WOW!

  6. I've always loved that song! Falling Leaves is a beautiful quilt, how wonderful to have it finished. No matter that the leaves outside are finished falling, you can remember them longer with your quilt and guaranteed that it will be perfect each year :)

  8. Hello Olena,

Such gorgeous colours! The simple quilting really makes the colours stand out. I always enjoy straight line quilting, probably because there's no real thinking involved.

Thank you for linking up with Free Motion Mavericks - your quilt is this week's featured project!

    Love, Muv
